You're invited to a great summer wine party with Adam Kneorzer of Dreadnought Wines and Spirits who will be taking us on a Wines of the Mediterranean journey on Thursday, August 22.
We'll be tasting:
Pares Balta Blanc de Pacs -This is a still white wine made from the three traditional grapes of Cava in NE Spain: Parellada, Xarel-lo, and Macabeo. It offers bright green apple and pear with a hint of tropicality. It’s got fresh, lively acidity and feels easy-drinking and approachable. The winery is also organic and farms biodynamically.
Les Amours d’Haut-Gleon Rose– Classic rose from the south of France made primarily of Grenache with some Syrah blended in to add some richness. It’s got snappy citrus and tart red berries on the nose and palate, and there’s a fine mineral streak that keeps this incredibly food-friendly.
Herdade do Arrepiado Velho Touriga Nacional – Touriga Nacional is the flagship red grape of Portugal, and this is an excellent example of it. This rich purple wine is packed with dark fruits, a hint of green leafiness, and licorice and spice that is sure to please.
Terre dei Buth Frizzante Rose – This is the perfect way to close and pair with not-too-sweet desserts. It’s an ever-so-slightly off-dry sparkling rose from the Veneto in Italy that doles out aromas and flavors of fresh strawberries and cream. Made in the style of Prosecco, these bubbles are soft, aromatic, and perfect for summer.
As always each of the four wines proffered are paired with a delicious small plate (and one dessert course) from Chef Pete Phillipy and Mike Henney, and Executive Priory Pastries Pastries Chef Jim Lazeration.
